What is QI Back & Spine Clinic?

QI Back & Spine Clinic is a team of medical professionals who are dedicated to diagnosing & treating severe, chronic or acute back and spine conditions by non-surgical methods. Diagnosing the root cause of back and spine conditions is always the first step in medicine. We use a multi-disciplinary approach to accurately diagnose the cause of back pain because the more accurate the diagnosis, the more precise the treatment. We believe that it is essential to reverse the underlying cause of back pain and not just temporarily suppress the symptoms.

How do you diagnose the root cause of back pain?

An accurate diagnosis is critical as 85% of back pain cases are termed ‘non-specific’. Your back pain can be due to a neurological, systemic, structural or mechanical dysfunction. We are amongst the first to use a diagnostic approach that covers all these aspects. We use non-invasive technology that isolates the spinal structure. The controlled guided movements test and measure the strength and mobility of the spine. We can therefore identify the root cause of your back pain and prescribe further course of treatment.

What technology do you use? Is it non-invasive?

The machines we use are non-invasive biofeedback devices. They hold and support your body in fixed positions and then measure your functional ability during movements. They allow us to get a clear understanding of your spinal muscle tissue.

What types of treatment do you do?

Our treatment is based on the diagnosis and severity of the patient’s condition. To cure back pain and mechanical spine problems, it is important to rebuild the tissues that are weak and are unable to support or stabilise the spine. This is where our expertise lies. Our precise medical movements enable rehabilitation of spinal tissues and have been medically proven to be the best cure even for the most severe back and spine conditions. The revolutionary technology we use enables isolation of the weak tissue and a precisely guided treatment method. Our doctors use a variety of treatments, depending on how severe the condition is, to effectively enable recovery.

Who are the doctors in your team?

We have a multi-disciplinary team that comprises of doctors with a specialisation in physical therapy for the spine and an advisory panel of spine surgeons and orthopaedics.

I have already consulted an orthopaedic doctor, a spine surgeon, been on medication and even tried physiotherapy. It has not helped me, how are you different?

At QI, we implement a highly specialised clinical method of diagnosis. Our proprietary technology allows us to test and measure the strength of spinal tissues and mechanical, neurological, and structural components of the spine. This analysis goes beyond MRIs and X-Rays and helps isolate the exact cause of the back pain. Our doctors can thus reach an accurate diagnosis and start precise treatment. Our conservative medical approach is therefore established as the most preferred way to treat mechanical spine conditions.

I have been advised surgery, what should I do?

Take a second opinion.
As per medical guidelines, surgery is only to be prescribed when a patient has symptoms that affect bowel or bladder control. Less than 5% of patients should ever need surgery for back & spine conditions.

Why should I come to you for a second opinion?

We understand and specialise in spinal disorder recovery. The overuse of medication for back pain is alarming and must be prescribed only when absolutely necessary. Similarly, very few people need surgery for back pain even though it may be prescribed. Surgery must only be considered as the last option if conservative medical treatment has been unsuccessful. At QI Back & Spine Clinic, our multidisciplinary approach and unique technology has enabled over 20,000 patients to recover from their symptoms without the use of drugs/medicines or surgery. Our methodology is the first of its kind in India and is born from our clinical collaborations with leading authorities in Germany & Finland. Our medical approach and conservative method is established as being the most preferred way to treat spine conditions.

How long does treatment take?

Length of treatment depends on how severe a condition is or the degree of symptoms experienced. It is not medically possible to cure a bone fracture overnight. Similarly, it is not medically possible to repair damaged or weak tissue overnight. The process of reconstructing damaged tissue in bones or soft tissue is similar and everybody recovers at a different rate.

How fast does the body heal?

It is important to understand how our body works. The human body heals with the laying down of connective tissue, often called scar tissue. Healing rates vary between individuals but generally at 4 weeks connective tissue has reached 60% strength, at 6 weeks it is at 80% and by 12 weeks, it will have regained 100% strength. However, the control, strength and endurance of the supporting muscles of the spine, shoulder and pelvis can take longer.
